What is NetQuote?
NetQuote.com provides an online insurance quote referral service. I ran to this website when I realized that I was paying 25% more for my auto insurance than my friend who used NetQoute and drove the exact same car I did.
It took me 6 minutes to submit my request for an insurance quote and was stunned when I saw how much money I could save. Because there are so many horror stories about people using online forms that sold their information to spammers and some online insurance scams, I was a bit skeptical that this internet stuff quote service would work.
I have also heard of people getting higher insurance quotes from these referral services than their original service providers. But after talking to my friend, and her guarantees that it was free, I decided that it was worth the try. After all, why should she be the only one enjoying lower monthly insurance payments?
What is Progressive.com?
Progressive.com is an insurance provider that helps compare insurance rates, since they write the insurance quotes themselves, they tend to have more offers -and therefore even better rates than other competitors that claim to do what they do. Progressive.com found the best rates for my motorcycle, and took into account that I took a driver safety class.
Insurance companies seemed a little more willing to “bend” when I went through companies like Progressive.com and NetQuote, because they view it as “extra income.” They figure you ARE going to choose a company and if they don’t get your business, a competitor will. So, they all compete for you!
How Do Online Insurance Quotes Work?
Now being the skeptic I am, I made sure to do my research before I pressed “submit” and sent them all my personal information. My findings suggested that the reason I was able to get these lower insurance rates using was that instead of being a person shopping for low insurance rates, I became a potential customer (a hot lead!) to multiple insurance companies competing for my business.
These insurance companies used my information to calculate a rate they felt would beat their competitor. NetQuote turned the insurance industry from a sellers market to a buyers market. I must admit, it felt great to have that kind of bargaining power, I was able to see that “Company A” had a cheaper rate than I was currently getting. When I called to cancel my current policy, my company asked what my deal was and beat it! All because I was willing to do a little research.
What Insurance Quotes Did I Get?
It is common for us to buy only what we need when we think we need it. Even though this is generally a good approach, when it comes to insurance you would be surprised how much money you can save by taking the time to get some other insurance quotes.
After the success with my auto insurance, saving an extra $20.00 a month ($240 a year!), I decided to take advantage of the other services NetQuote had to offer. I submitted quotes for my other insurance needs:

And being the caring mother I am, I even decided to see if I could save money on my son’s renters insurance. At a $60.00 a year savings, it was more than worth it -considering he lives in Florida and my husband and I are paying it anyway.
